Advanced Studies in Sustainable Finance

The requirements for finance professionals are constantly changing, as the complexity and challenges of the financial industry grow. Sustainability considerations are becoming increasingly prominent in financial markets and investment strategies, with environmental, societal and governance aspects of sustainability being considered among the key challenges for the industry.  Society’s ability to create a sustainable future will be directly influenced by how the sector meets these challenges.

The Department of Banking and Finance offers three Advanced Studies in Sustainable Finance programs aimed at the busy professional as an integral part of its for-credit post-graduate executive education: The Certificate in Advanced Studies (CAS), the Diploma in Advanced Studies (DAS) and the Master in Advanced Studies (MAS).

During these comprehensive part-time executive programs, participants acquire in-depth knowledge of the concepts of sustainable finance and practical skills in the area of sustainability in financial institutions and markets. The programs seek to foster value-oriented reflective capabilities, social responsibility, and ethical awareness.  On a practical level, the programs enable financial market professionals to address sustainability aspects in their work and become agents of change for a more sustainable financial system.

The design of the three programs allows participants to begin and complete their studies at the level of their choice and with almost any course.  Thus, the programs can be studied consecutively or independent of each other. Alternatively, individual courses can be undertaken without being committed to completing a full program.
The programs comprise of core and elective courses, with the option to specialize depending on the electives chosen. In order to offer maximum flexibility, courses are delivered using a mix of blended learning, game-based learning, distance learning and class-based learning.

The programs are governed by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics of UZH and managed by the program management team and teaching expert team embedded in the Center of Competence for Sustainable Finance.

SUSTAINABILITY NETWORKS

The Advanced Studies in Sustainable Finance programs offer participants access to a fast-growing and active network of alumni and subject experts representing the Swiss and international finance industry.
